During the 1960s there was a wave of goofy, lighthearted (and often sometimes vaguely erotic) movies which came out in theaters. These movies were known as beach party movies.
Beach party movies often had little to no plot and mostly revolved around youth having fun, dancing, singing, and running around the beach in skimpy bikinis!
Well, in 1965 there was one beach movie that combined elements of the b-sci-fi, b-horror, and beach movies into one crazy, zanny, over-the-top summer style flick. That movie was Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine!
Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine starred such famous names as Frankie Avalon, Dwayne Hickman, and--the ultimate king of horror film during that time--Vincent Price. There was even a short cameo appearance by Annette Funicello, the queen of all beach party movies curing that time.

In Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machines Vincent Price stars as the eccentric mad doctor known as Dr. Goldfoot--aptly named for the strange golden shoes he wears.
Dr. Goldfoot has a vicious plan in store for the world. He has designed a machine--a bikini machine--that create the most beautiful female robots (also known as fem-bots) to walk the earth. Ultimately, he is designing these fem-bots to seduce the world's richest men and take their money.
However, when a penniless secret agent falls for one of the fem-bots he takes it upon himself to hunt down Dr. Goldfoot and stop his plan. Unfortunately, due to his bumbling nature he manages to create chaos in the doctor's lab as he tries to escape with his life, and dignity, in tact.

Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine is by no means a quality movie. It is what many film goers and reviewers would call "fluff." The film is meant to be completely silly, over-the-top, and fun.
The story is barley existent. Most scenes are just filled with mild sex jokes and slapstick comedy. However, there are a few very fun and clever moments in this film.
In particular, the doctor's secret underground lab has an entire torture chamber installed. During the final scenes of the film we are treated to a plethora of throw backs to The Pit and the Pendulum staring Vincent Price from 1961. Watching the serious moments from a classic horror movie get turned into a fun goof feat was very enjoyable.

Summing it Up
Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine is a fun, lighthearted beach party movie from the 60s with a hint of the macabre thrown in. Vincent Price give s a strange yet enjoyable performance as the mas doctor looking to infiltrate the world with his sexy bikini machines. Also, the theme song is extremely catchy. If you are looking for some good retro goofiness this movie may just be perfect for you.
