House on Haunted Hill Trilogy Month!
Get ready to scream because this month, August 2013, I will be focusing on the House on Haunted Hill Trilogy! The original William Castle film is, in my opinion, one of the finest examples of classic horror film to ever be made. William Castle promoted the movie as being filmed in "Emergo." All this meant was that he set up a pully system in the theater so that, near the end of the film, a plastic glow in the dark skeleton would float down upon the audience and scare the patrons. The film was so successful that it inspired Alfred Hitchcock to create his immortal masterpiece, Psycho.
The original House on Haunted Hill inspired a 1999 remake. In 2007 a squeal to that film was released through a direct to DVD format. Throughout the month of August I will be looking at each of these films and reviewing the good and the bad of each one. At the end I will also post a final "Summing Up" article of the three films and how they measure up to one another. Look for links to each of the reviews right here on the official page. I'm looking forward to an exciting month of murder, intrigue, dark houses, and ghosts! I hope to see you there too!
