EDITORIAL:
It's almost Saint Patrick's Day and that means it is time for another franchise marathon here at A Slice of Horror! Tis the season for little green murderous freaks! That's right, we're gearing up for a complete Leprechaun Marathon! Each weekend--starting with the weekend before Saint Patrick's Day--we will be watching a film in the Leprechaun series. Leprechaun came at the tail end of the slasher boom that began in the late 70s and early 80s. This franchise may be an example of why the slasher franchise died, or it may be one last homage to the entertaining silliness that most slasher films were. For those of you who have never heard of this franchise it is about a Leprechaun that travels to our dimension and kills people. Not very original or high concept, but it sure makes for some of the most enjoyable B-movie fun that I've ever seen. Leprechaun ranks up with such strange movies as Gremlins, Ghoulies, Critters, and other light hearted murderous fun. So stay tuned to our website because there will be a new review linked here to this page. Also, this is a part 1 Marathon. I will be reviewing the first three films this year and the second three next year. Let the entertaining and inaccurate Irish lore begin! -Noah C. Patterson, Writer and Editor |
