The medium of serial publishing has been around for ages. The Victorian's were famous for their serial releases. Many of Charles Dickens' most famous works were originally released as serials to the high class Victorians.
In the 1920s pulp magazines once again popularized the style of serial fiction. These magazines and publishing houses made it possible for authors to release new serials each month or week to keep their readers in suspense.
Today, with the advancements of the internet and e-book publishing platforms, the art of the serial novel has once again returned. Many independent publishing companies are now trying serials.
Splatter Chronicles Publishing and A Slice of Horror.com, having always been fans of online serial fiction, is taking advantage of this classic style of book publication, releasing, and distribution in order to get more extreme horror out to you each week!
Starting in July 2015 Splatter Chronicles Publishing will be releasing new titles spaced out in weekly serial installments via Amazon Kindle. The first installment of each month will be available for FREE for the first five days of release. The remaining three to four installments in each series will only cost 99 cents each!
At the end of each month the title will be released as a complete work with all four to five parts in one compilation. This full edition each month will be available for only $1.99, a full dollar less (or two dollars less for novelettes that are five parts) than buying each of the installments individually.
And for those of you who prefer a classical ink and paper book, don't worry! You are in luck! Each book will be released with all four to five parts in a digest sized print edition for only $5.99.
Splatter Chronicles Publishing's first book in the "Splatter Serials" series will be Blood Grounds. Blood Grounds will directly correlate with A Slice of Horror.com's second annual Summer Camp Marathon. The story summary is as follows:
It's every adolescent boy's dream come true. The hottest girls at summer camp have invited Johnny, Sam, and Brian to a wild night in the old abandoned caretaker's shed at the edge of Bronson Summer Camp.
Johnny and Sam can't believe their luck. However, Brian is less than excited. Something doesn't feel right about the girls and their invitation. On top of that Brian hasn't told his bunk mates he isn't interested in girls. But Brian plays along to save face.
