The Scare Tower started out as a simple side project. Some of the locals of Rexburg who came together and decided they wanted to make a haunted house that belonged to Rexburg. So far there are only haunted attractions in the surrounding area. But with the booming college student population the town now called for it's own frightening and fun horror house.
The haunted house is built inside an old granary just past the train tracks in Rexburg. This building on its own manages to have the aura of horror but the creative team behind the house really utilized the facilities and made a worthwhile haunted house.
The creative team were meticulous with the detail when they created each room. They added the littlest details in how the painted the walls and picked the props. They had real mounds of dirt in the graveyard scene and specially painted body parts hanging in the butcher's shed.
The layout was intuitive and frightening. Often times there was multiple directions to go with no real way to know which way would lead out. We went in circles a few times while the actors hunted us down.
Every one of the actor's were great in their part and added the final living touch to all of the scary rooms in the haunted house.
What makes all of this work so impressive is that the creators paid for the whole attraction out of pocket and built the entire place in only 3 weeks. They have some extremely talented people working on this haunt.
Also, if you have kids and want to bring them there is also a straw maze they run right next door. The straw maze is also haunted after dark and is equally fun and confusing. It isn't the biggest straw maze around but it still takes a good 20 to 30 minutes to find your way out Just be aware that you will need a flashlight for the maze after dark. Otherwise you may be lost for a number of hours.
So support local business and give them a visit. They are also in need of actors for both attractions. So if you have the desire send them a message on their Facebook page saying your interested in volunteering. I may volunteer and then give you all the down low on the behind the scenes action at a haunted attraction. Make sure to like their page and share it with friends.
