However, when it appeared on Netflix a little while ago I decided that it was time to give it a chance. I had heard the music from the film in another medium and enjoyed it. I had also heard snippets about the film’s concept and found it interesting. The idea that you aren’t allowed to scream or the ghost kills you was a fun and frightening concept.
So I watched it.
Jamie leaves to get some take-out and his wife is left alone with the dummy. Then, in somewhat of a cheesy scene, the dummy kills the wife. Jamie returns home to find his dead wife.
He heads out to his home town to have the funeral for his wife and to also investigate more concerning the legend. Unfortunately a cop is on his tail, investigating him for the murder of his own wife. And with the rising body count of town residents with their tongues ripped out he realizes he is in for more than he bargained for.
Additionally the writing was fairly poor. The plot didn't flow well and the concepts--although interesting--didn't work out very well in the actual story. But the worst part of the movie was the pacing. The cinematography was very choppy and never focused on any of the dark imagery that should have been used to build up tension.
The story simply did not flow. It felt as if they movie was slapped together to get their concept out but there was little work put into the cinematography and pacing work of the film.
